Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 June 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Calypso IDE app (“Calypso”, “the app”). By installing or using Calypso, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

License to use the app

Calypso grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for the purpose of writing, running, and managing your own code.

Your responsibilities

  • Your code and data are yours. You are responsible for the code you write and run, and for the consequences of running it. Calypso executes code at your direction.
  • Back up your work. Calypso stores your projects on your device. You are responsible for backing up anything important — for example by pushing to a Git remote. We are not responsible for data loss.
  • Lawful use. You agree not to use Calypso to create, run, or distribute anything unlawful, or in any way that violates the terms of the third-party services you connect to.
  • Credentials. You are responsible for keeping your Git and service credentials secure.

AI assistant

Calypso offers an optional AI assistant that you enable by entering your own API key from a third-party AI provider you choose (currently Anthropic, DeepSeek, or OpenAI). When enabled, the code, files, and messages you submit — and, if you use the agent, files it reads from the project you have open — are sent directly to that provider, and usage is billed to your account with them under their terms.

The assistant’s agent can, at your request, read and search the files in your open project and create or modify files in it. Depending on your settings these edits apply automatically or after you approve them; either way, you are responsible for the result.

AI-generated output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or insecure. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to use any code, suggestions, or file changes the assistant produces, exactly as you would for code from any other source. Do not let the assistant edit important work without reviewing the changes, and keep backups or use version control. Calypso does not guarantee the correctness, safety, or suitability of AI output.

Third-party services and software

Calypso interoperates with independent third-party services and software, including (where you choose to use them) the Termux app, package registries (such as esm.sh, PyPI, and the npm registry), CDNs (such as jsDelivr), Git hosts (such as GitHub), and the AI provider whose key you enter (such as Anthropic, DeepSeek, or OpenAI). These are operated by others under their own terms and privacy policies. Calypso is not affiliated with, and is not responsible for, those services or software. Your use of them is governed by their respective terms.

No warranty

Calypso is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will run any particular code correctly.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) Calypso — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
